Tetsunabe no Jan!
Jan Akiyama, a cocky arrogant teenager wants to fulfill his grandfathers wish of defeating his arch nemesis Mutsuju Gobancho. When he arrives at the Gobancho restaurant he meets his granddaughter Kiriko Gobancho. Their rivalry is easily compared to Jan's and Kiriko's grandfathers, for Jan believes cooking is about competition and Kiriko believes cooking is about heart.
Jan Akiyama, un ado arrogant et prétentieux, veut réaliser le rêve de son grand-père : vaincre son ennemi juré, Mutsuju Gobancho. À son arrivée au restaurant Gobancho, il rencontre sa petite-fille, Kiriko Gobancho. Leur rivalité rappelle celle de leurs grands-pères respectifs : Jan considère la cuisine comme une compétition, tandis que Kiriko la perçoit comme une affaire de cœur.

Thirty year old hit shonen manga holds up as an in-your-face, competitive cooking anime. Can easily see this being a show of the year. Looks great, sounds great. Nice detail and animation. Portrays the vibe of working in a professional restaurant kitchen very well.

Another food-focused anime that treats cooking like a competition.
These shows always portray the elite restaurant kitchens as a dog-eat-dog or survival -of-the-fittest competitive environment, and in this case, the title character is particularly competitive.
The clash between the title character and others makes for fun drama, setting up a running theme of the clash between a "victory at all costs" philosophy versus a "put your heart into it" philosophy.

This show has it all -- everything I never wanted to know about rice, organ meat, and egomaniacal chefs. Recommended for foodies, I guess.

The cooking commentary is way over 9000. Still the ending was a bit over the top in breaking the fourth wall. Still it's quite a watch.
