Haruyuki is a fat kid that just entered middle school for half a year. He has the standard fat kid problems like low self-esteem, getting bullied and what not. The beautiful girl inititiating a nerdy kid into a world of superhuman powers and serious dangers is a tried and true formula which works well here, but that's about all the show has going for it, since I didn't find the characters all that interesting.
