Machi Morimoto is a girl who is expected to settle down, get married, and become a stay-at-home mother. Her parents nag her about finding a suitor but she is neither interested in nor understands love. In an attempt to stop her parents from controlling her life any more than they do, she marries her best friend Hana Agaya, who lost her job and needed a place to crash.

I Married My Best Friend to Shut My Parents Up by Kodama Naoko is a cute tale about the hardworking Morimoto Machi marrying her cheerful best friend Agaya Hana. What starts out as a sham marriage soon blossoms into something much deeper in this short but sweet manga. As Machi learns to finally live life for herself and break the ties of always trying to live up to her parents' expectations we see her finally begin to take charge; Who knew life could be so enjoyable? Thanks to Hanna, now Machi can proudly say she does!
Personally, as someone that has struggled with always living around the expectations of others this manga really hit close to home, and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a dose of some sweet Yuri in the workforce!
